San Pedro. 26 February 2019

Bolloré Transport & Logistics Côte d’Ivoire has been selected by the Compagnie Minéralière de Bafin (CMB) to handle nickel loadings at the port of San Pedro.

Bolloré Transport & Logistics Côte d’Ivoire has been selected by the Compagnie Minéralière de Bafin (CMB) to handle nickel loadings at the port of San Pedro. CMB's nickel shipments handled by Bolloré Transport & Logistics teams come from the Foungbesso mine, located in the Bafing region more than 500 km away from San Pedro, and are destined for export.

Since 1 October 2018, eight vessels have been successfully operated with an average load of 41, 500 tons and a net rate of 8,000 tons per day.

Bolloré Transport & Logistics teams, composed of specialists in conventional handling, towing and electromechanics, carry out loading operations using two tugs and four barges.

They will continue to use their expertise to carry out these operations in compliance with Bolloré Transport & Logistics’ QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) policy and in collaboration with the Port Autonome de San Pedro.

Opened in 2016, the Foungbesso mine is the first of three operational mining sites. It has an annual production of about 1,000,000 tons and global supplies of nearly 50 million tons.

By being selected by CMB to carry out this new project, Bolloré Transport & Logistics branch in San Pedro strengthens its strategic position as a market leader, thus offering its customers a wide range of services including transit, logistics, shipping & handling operations.
