This is the most important Public-Private Partnership in Ghana's history. The new terminal will be fully operational by 2019. Bolloré Ports and its partners APM Terminals and the Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority, are building one of the largest deepwater ports in West Africa.

The new president of Ghana, Mr Akufo-Addo, elected in January 2017 assured the partners of his support. "Be assured that the presence of a new government does not mean the abrogation of genuine contracts entered into by the previous government. You have my support to proceed ». The President thanked the delegation of Bolloré Transport & Logistics for the courtesy of their visit and stated that, the major preoccupation of his government is the creation of a good business climate for businesses to thrive. “If we can convince more and more companies like yours to invest in our country, then we can thrive as a nation." he concluded.

The new Port of Tema will significantly boost economic growth and trade revenues for local companies, with an estimated US$ 1.1 billion rise in global value added to the Ghanaian economy and around 450,000 indirect jobs created. It will be able to accommodate next generation ships (up to 18 000 TEUs) and handle the increasing flows of goods to and from Ghana and the hinterland.

Work is well under way. All teams on site are mobilized. To this day, 735,000 m3 of material have been extracted in the dredging of the future port basin. 125,000 m2 were filled and 650 m of dike constructed. Worksite facilities are continuing. 3D basin tests have already been carried out to test the efficiency of the dike that will protect the harbor.
