Earthquakes in Turkey: Bolloré Logistics Middle-East & South Asia takes action

Puteaux. 27 February 2023

Following the earthquakes that caused major devastation in Turkey in February 2023, Bolloré Logistics continues to deliver humanitarian aid equipment. After organising the transportation of relief supplies from France a few days after the first earthquake, it is now the Middle-East & South Asia (MESA) region that is in charge of sending thermal blankets.

On behalf of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Bolloré Logistics has organised the transportation of 22,000 thermal blankets, i.e. 42 tonnes of merchandise. To help the Turkish populations hit by the earthquakes at the beginning of 2023, USAID paid for these thermal blankets and entrusted their shipment to the teams of Bolloré Logistics India where they were manufactured.

By 15 February 2023, our teams had received and processed the 22,000 blankets. Bolloré Logistics India teams chartered an Airbus A330 from Delhi airport. The operation was coordinated by the Bolloré Logistics Dubai control tower. The blankets were received on 17 February 2023 at Adana Şakirpaşa International Airport.

These two teams from the MESA region work closely with various governmental and international organisations and NGOs for the emergency transportation of humanitarian supplies to Turkey. The specialist departments in our Delhi, Mumbai and Dubai offices are in daily contact with UN agencies such as the UNHCR (United Nations Refugee Agency) and the WFP (World Food Programme), as well as with the IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies) and the USAID.

The teams respond 24/7 to NGOs and other organisations to provide them with optimal solutions for the transportation of goods to Turkey and Syria. Countries in our region, such as India, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates, are the main suppliers of critical relief equipment (tents, thermal blankets, shelter construction kits, sanitation kits...)
