One day before Tibar Bay deepwater port comes into service: Timor Port hosts a Royal Australian Navy ship

Puteaux. 29 September 2022

On 28 September 2022, Timor Port welcomed HMAS Stalwart, the Royal Australian Navy's second Supply-class replenishment oiler. Within the space of a few hours, the teams at Timor Port guided the ship into port, brought it alongside and docked it.

At 175 m long by 23 m wide, and drawing 8 metres, this ship confirms Tibar Bay Port’s ability to receive all types of ships, as it was designed to do.

Tibar Bay Port aims to achieve levels of productivity and performance matching those of the world's biggest ports. Built according to the latest environmental standards, in line with the Green Terminal labelling process created by Bolloré Ports, it also contributes to the economic development of the country by promoting local employment and training for its employees.

More than four years of work were required to transform this greenfield site into a highly competitive new port. In September, two test vessels called at the port of Tibar Bay, providing an opportunity to check that the operating systems and the handling equipment were functioning correctly.
