Since this summer, close to 50% of the Société Publique Locale Mobilités Bourgogne Franche Comté (SPL MBFC) fleet of buses has been running on Izipure. Bolloré Energy supplies the SPL MBFC fleet since winning the tender last May.
Bolloré Energy has been marketing and distributing HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil), under the Izipure brand, since the end of 2021. Made from used cooking oil, this biofuel is a more environmentally friendly alternative to diesel. The Bolloré Energy depot in Mulhouse supplies three MBFC sites in the region (Lons le Saunier, Saint-Claude and Thise) with HVO synthetic diesel, with each site dedicating 100% of its internal storage capacity to Izipure. The target is to use between 1,500 and 2,500 m3 of biofuel between July 2023 and July 2024. The contract may be renewed twice, up to July 2026.
Road passenger transport companies are highly committed to the energy and ecological transition to reduce the environmental impact of their activities. As such, MBFC continues to pursue its energy transition, with the aim of reducing its supply of fossil diesel in favour of Izipure. By choosing Izipure, MBFC can reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 85% compared with conventional diesel.
Florian Mohand
Director of Energy Transition
We are proud to be supporting Mobilités Bourgogne Franche Comté in their decarbonisation strategy. The challenges of the energy transition for bus and coach networks are many, and our low-carbon fuel, Izipure, is one of the solutions we make available to public operators to help meet their needs.
Having won the SNCF Voyageurs test phase, Izipure is now also fuelling SPL MBFC coaches. Bolloré Energy thus confirms its ability to support all passenger transport operators, and continues to diversify by providing its solutions to a wide range of customers from all sectors of activity. The company is strengthening its decarbonisation actions by establishing a lasting presence in the Bourgogne Franche Comté region.
