01 June 2022
On 1st June 2022, Sitarail attented the presentation ceremony of its new tamper – grader – straightener on the occasion of the 28th edition of the International Exhibition for Track Technology (IAF) in Munster, Germany. Its technical acceptance is scheduled for 20 June 2022.
This important track maintenance machine is used to make sure that the track is correctly aligned and to pack the ballast, which levels the stones around the ties for proper support. Developed and manufactured by the Austrian Plasser & Theurer, world-renowned railway specialist. It features next generation technology for higher working speeds during tie tamping and better precision during track maintenance operations.
The tamper is set to leave Germany around mid-July and will be transported on a flatbed semi-trailer in a special convoy from the manufacturing plant in Linz, Austria to the Port of Hamburg. It will be unloaded at the Port of Abidjan before being delivered to the Sitarail headquarters sometime during the month of October.
Managing Director at Sitarail.
The acquisition of this new ultra-modern tamper marks a key phase in our efforts to ramp up our expertise in the field, especially in railway maintenance. The machine fabrication was tailored to meet the technical specificities of our network, which stretches over more than 1,155 kilometres. We hope to commission it next November,
The € 3 M Sitarail invested in the machine will include support from the manufacturer to get the machine up and running as well as training for Sitarail employees on the use and maintenance of this modern tool. In fact, a technical team of 10 people will be trained in the tamper’s manufacturing plant in Linz from 13 - 15 June.
